Eaton-Wiring-ManualTo mark the launch of the latest edition of its pocket wiring manual, Eaton has announced a competition to find the oldest copy of the book still in existence.

The new publication is the latest successor to the popular Klöckner Moeller and Moeller Electric Wiring Manuals, the first of which was published in German more than fifty years ago in 1958. By 2005 the manual was being published in 9 languages including English, French and Italian. Due to the comprehensive content and usefulness of these manuals, users have often retained their copies for many years and, with this in mind, Eaton will present a versatile electrician’s toolkit, complete with fitted shoulder bag, to the person who can produce the oldest copy.

In the new edition of the manual, Eaton has packed a huge amount of invaluable practical information covering virtually every aspect of low-voltage electrical installation and control system technology.

Although it is deceptively small – it is presented in handy A6 format so that it will slip easily into a pocket – the Eaton Wiring Manual comprises more than 600 pages of detailed advice and guidance relating to applications, product selection, standards, system design and related topics. The manual is extensively illustrated throughout with photographs, drawings, circuit diagrams and charts.

For ease of use, the manual is divided into ten chapters dealing with, for example, electronic motors starters and drives; motor protective circuit breakers; switching, control and visualisation; and contactors and relays. The pages have coloured edge tabs identifying individual chapters, and the manual includes a comprehensive index that allows specific references to be located quickly and easily.

Copies of the new edition can be obtained, free of charge, by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , or by calling Eaton’s Information Response Service on 0161 655 8900.
