ABB has demonstrated its wide range of electrical plant and automation system services for waste to energy schemes, including its capability to provide a fully integrated Instrumentation Control and Electrical (iICE) approach at this years RWM (Resource Efficiency & Waste Management Solutions) Exhibition.

The main highlight of the ABB stand was the demonstration of Symphony Plus, the new generation of ABB's total power plant automation philosophy. Symphony Plus is designed to maximize plant efficiency and reliability through automation, integration, and optimization of the entire plant.

ABB also featured its comprehensive turnkey electrical balance of power (EBoP) systems and plant packages that cover every electrical control and instrumentation system and component in the power plant, apart from the generator and turbine.

ABB also offers grid connections up to 132 kV. Completing ABB’s portfolio for the waste to energy industry is the range of continuous emissions monitoring solutions (CEMS) that enable operators to meet the stringent European legislation on gaseous and dust emissions from industrial plant as well as ABB’s wide range of energy efficiency solutions covering both plant design and operation.

Symphony Plus
Symphony Plus is ABB's total plant automation system for the power generation and water sectors. This is the latest generation of ABB's highly successful Symphony family of control systems, with more than 6,000 existing installations, representing one of the largest installed bases of distributed control systems (DCS) in the world.

Symphony Plus is a flexible and scalable platform, designed to serve a wide range of plant configurations and applications from small and server-less installations to large multi-system, multi-server architectures. It supports the seamless integration of field devices, process and turbine automation systems, electrical and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) solutions as well as optimization and maintenance systems. Symphony Plus provides users with a secure, reliable control environment and built-in security features that prevent unauthorized system access.
