Socomec Masterys BCSocomec provides uninterruptible power supply (UPS) technology to guarantee energy efficient secure power systems at the new Stonehenge visitor building.

Socomec’s Critical Power UK division delivers a series of Masterys BC UPS units to the new Stonehenge visitor building – the first phase of improvements to the setting and visitor experience of Stonehenge which is due to open in June 2014.

As a World Heritage Site, Stonehenge is the most famous prehistoric monument in the world and holds a pivotal place in the development of archaeology.  The original visitor centre was constructed in 1968 as a temporary structure.  For the first time, Stonehenge will now have a proper place to tell its fascinating story, including a spectacular exhibition set within a modern but sympathetic setting that has been designed with the environment in mind.

Andrew Wilkinson, Regional Managing Director, Socomec comments; “At Socomec, we are delighted to play a role in this new development at Stonehenge.  Socomec’s UPS technology is the most efficient in the world and the Masterys BC is the ideal choice for this electrical infrastructure.  We are on target to complete all works by January 2014 and will be providing maintenance support to ensure that the system is optimized on an ongoing basis.”

Socomc UPS Masterys BC (15 – 20kVA) technology provides a complete, cost-effective critical power solution.  True online double conversion mode - with an output factor of 0.9 - provides 12% more active power compared to UPS with a power factor of 0.8.

With a compact footprint and optimized cabinet size, the Socomec Masterys BC is efficient in terms of both space and energy.  Dual input functionality enables the management of independent power sources.  Furthermore, the system’s availability can be increased by placing two UPS in parallel (1+1 redundancy).  An internal manual bypass allows for easy maintenance – without power interruption.
