Saftronics Provides MCC For Aylesford Pumping Station

Freedom approached Saftronics to support them with a project for the Environment Agency involving a replacement panel and Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) kiosk.
They required a replacement Motor Control Centre (MCC) with a new control panel incorporating the latest level control and motor variable speed drives.
The existing pumping regime consists of two 4kw submersible pumps rated at 32L/s each and is controlled by DOL starter. The level control of the pumping station is via a Milltronic ultrasonic unit with float switches for back up. The current telemetry installation incorporates an outstation and transmits the following parameters.
Always Finding Solutions
The pump motor start method was a direct online starter. The Environment Agency had requested the method be changed to variable frequency. As a result of fitting the VSD drives the panel footprint was likely to grow. To overcome this we came up with a bespoke arrangement of the panel case metalwork so that the kiosk footprint could be maintained whilst ensuring it is compliant with the latest Environment Agency standards and to meet the British Standard BS EN 61439 requirements.
This type of tailored solution is what Saftronics are known for. The project build was completed on time and currently is awaiting delivery to fully install at Aylesford and complete site acceptance with the Environment Agency.
What The Client Said
“Saftronics and the team did an excellent job in completing the MCC panel for our client. Currently the whole GRP kiosk unit is awaiting transportation to site however the finish and look, and the demonstration I had of the MCC working, have all been exemplary. I would like to thank Saftronics for their professionalism and diligence with this project, and certainly look forward to working with them again on future projects.”
